We partner with Traditional Owners, community groups and land holders to restore the health of Country and people through Indigenous Land Management practices. This collaborative work delivers diverse outcomes, from boosting community resilience and agricultural profitability to creating employment and revitalising koala habitats. Mentoring in Central West
Wiradjuri, Wayilwan and Gamilaraay countries
From 2023 to 2025, Firesticks facilitated a mentoring partnership with NSW Central Tablelands communities and the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust. The initiative significantly advanced Cultural Fire knowledge and leadership across Central West NSW and surrounding regions.
Over 16 days spent on-Country, we engaged 253 participants, including Elders, Associate Fire Practitioners, community members, and high school students, in Cultural Burning workshops and activities.
A particularly impactful result was the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE). This has removed a key barrier for mob to participate on specific land tenures and increased our capacity to take on Fee-For-Service opportunities. It's a practical step toward greater economic inclusion.
