Hosted by the Kuku Yalanji people of Cape York, this National Indigenous Fire Workshop provided a hands-on opportunity for people to learn about Indigenous fire as a cultural land management practice. Indigenous communities from all over Australia including regional New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, travelled up to Cape York to participate firsthand in Cultural Burning and learn about research methodologies and Indigenous perspectives on ecology. Surrounded by waterfalls and where the rainforest meets the sea, culture is alive and strong at Wujal Wujal. Kuku Yalanji hosts treated guests to delicious traditional feasts, dance, song, weaving, shelter and tool making.
